Things to do at Schott's Lake
Yes, we have approximately 6 km of marked trails by the lake and throughout the woods. In the winter, these trails will be available for snowshoeing and possibly x-country skiing in the future.
Schott’s Lake is a 20-acre natural spring-fed lake. There is no swimming in the lake as it is muddy and boggy! The use of personal equipment including but not limited to stand-up paddle boards, canoes and boats are not permitted in the lake at this time.
Not yet! Our future vision is to have a landscaped area around the lake with a floating dock. We plan to stock the lake with trout for all those young budding fishermen!
The Ranch House restaurant is in our main lodge and seats 70 in the main dining room. In the summer you can enjoy the outdoor patio overlooking the lake. Our Executive Chef’s rustic Canadiana food is prepared from scratch. We partner with local producers to bring fresh farm-to-table ingredients to our menu. Reservations are highly recommended.
You dream it and we will help you create it! We have a variety of indoor and outdoor spaces available including a 50-seat Conference Centre with modern audio/visual equipment. Contact us and we will help you plan your wedding, conference, or retreat.
We are planning a nature playground with lots of wood and ropes in 2022.
We are pet lovers and welcome pets!
There is a $25 per pet cleaning fee charged for each visit (except for service dogs) when staying in the Motel, Cabins, or Trailer. Pets must be under control at all times and on a leash when outside of motel rooms, trailers, or cabins. Pets must not make excessive noise and must not be aggressive or destructive. Owners must clean up after pets immediately. Pets must not be left unattended except safely in motel rooms, trailers, or cabins, and must be kenneled and checked on regularly when left in one of these places.
Pets (except service dogs with identification) are prohibited in public buildings.
Pets cannot swim in the lake as it is muddy and boggy!
Campground
We have 34 sites that have electrical and water hookups. None of our sites have a sewer connection. We have a central dump station available for all camping guests at no charge.
The campground is open from mid-May to mid-October. All trailers must be removed from the campground during the off-season.
As our campsites are seasonal, no permanent structures are allowed.
If you are interested in renting a site for a longer duration during the mid-May to mid-October season, the rates will be discounted as follows: 1st month: 10% off daily rate, 2nd month: 20%, 3rd month: 30%, 4th month: 40%, 5th month: 50% and 6th month: 60% off daily rate.
Note: Online booking is not available for these discounts. Please contact us directly to discuss long-term stays.
A maximum of 6 people may occupy a campsite unless they are of the same family unit.
Check-in is at 3p.m. and check-out is at 11a.m. for all accommodations.
Quiet hours are from 11p.m. to 7a.m.
Generator hours are from 7a.m. to 11p.m. and cannot be over 85DB. Please use your generator in moderation.
Firewood can be pre-purchased when you book your campsite online or in-person when you check-in. Firewood is $20 per load (Kubota UTV load) and delivered to your campsite after arrival.
Local firewood is permitted. (Please be mindful of out-of-province disease risks.)
Guest Wi-Fi is accessible near public buildings. Schott’s Lake is a remote location so performance can be intermittent.
Yes, site 47 is a pull-through site.
We are located on a 160-acre woodland property bordering on the back of Banff National Park backcountry. This is a new campground built in 2020 as we designed our sites to be spaced apart. Some mature trees exist throughout the campground and there is a multi-year planting plan to bring natural foliage and additional trees to the area.
Due to weather uncertainty in the Rocky Mountain foothills in May, services may be delayed/closed if required. We will contact you if this is the case.
Campsite reservations can only be changed or canceled by contacting Schott’s Lake directly (phone or email inquiry). There is a $10 administration fee for all changes or cancellations.
Online booking fees are $5/reservation. Telephone/email booking fees are $10/reservation. These fees are non-refundable. Payment in full is required at the time of booking (including the reservation booking fee) and is charged to the guest’s credit card.
Our future plans are to have wagon wheel style group camping area with a central cook house surrounded by campsites. Currently we reserve campsites 5-24 for group events that are booked at Schott’s lake such as weddings and family reunions.
In 2020 we renovated the Main Lodge and added 3 shower rooms in the lower level. They can be used by any guests staying at Schott’s Lake. There is a coin-operated fee for use.
